About Patricia Wulff:
My Mother taught me to knit when I was 5 years old. Since that time, I have always been creating some type of artwork: needlepoint, embroidery, cross-stitch, you name it. My major in school was art. I took part in my first sweater design class when I was 22 and I have been officially hooked on knitting ever since. My love of knitting has been going on for 25+ years - it's my relaxation, therapy and what I spend every waking minute doing...when I'm not at my full-time job.
After several years as a co-designer for many Bear Brain Enterprises patterns, I decided to create a line of patterns for making fashion accessories for women. I believe I have found my niche in creating stylish knitted scarves, shawls, necklaces and beaded bracelets, as I've always been a very visual person and interested in fashion. I was motivated to customize garments because I never could get a good fit or result when working from knitting patterns from magazines or yarn companies - I always had to make adjustments to get them to fit right.
The inspirations for my designs come from various fashion magazines. The stylish, elegant fashions, fabric textures, and vibrant colors in the magazines are great for getting the creative juices flowing. I am also inspired every time I visit my favorite yarn shop, Great Yarns in Everett, Washington. The shop owner, Fontelle Jones, carries some of the most amazing and beautiful fibers available. Every time I go to Great Yarns for a visit, Fontelle shows me something new and wonderful that I just have to use in a new design! Over the last couple of years, I've enrolled in design classes from Jan Runkel (another Great Yarns regular), who is an expert knitter as well as an accomplished pattern designer. Jan has been instrumental in helping me further refine my design skills.
After designing women's fashions for about 6 years, I recently began selling patterns and finished pieces. At PatriciaWulff.com, you can purchase my original fun-to-knit and easy-to-make pattern designs to knit your own stylish wearable art. Whether you knit or not you can also purchase a hand knitted shawl, stole or scarf. I do all of the knitting and finishing and all of my wearable art is created using the finest novelty yarns and fibers.
